Department of Labor - District Medical Consultants Contract Awarded to QTC

Diamond Bar, Ca., November 29, 2011: QTC has been awarded a Department of Labor contract to provide Board Certified physicians as consultants for District Offices located in Colorado, Ohio, Florida, and Washington to review cases pertaining to Department of Energy (DOE) former and current workers claiming compensation under the DOE’s Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Act. The Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs is responsible for adjudicating and administering claims filed by employees, former employees or certain qualified survivors under the Act. The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program is a specialized program within the U.S. Department of Labor with specific regulations and causation criteria. The program owes its creation to the situation that arose in the 1940’s when nuclear weapons were being developed. QTC will be performing over 6,500 case file reviews and 200 Second Medical Opinions annually. The five year contract is worth $18M.
