Our Cycling Team Fundraises for Multiple Sclerosis Research
On August 29, our Deputy Program Management Director Joanna Fesler and five riders from our parent company Leidos raised over $3,500 in Bike MS, a fundraising cycling series organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Leidos sponsored their event in Purceville, Virginia, and teamed up with the DC United soccer club to raise more funds in the “It’s in the Net!” fundraiser. For every goal scored through October 30, Leidos will contribute $1,000 until reaching their goal of $20,000.
Joanna led her team, aptly named Leidos Sprockets, through a 32-mile, 2,000-foot elevation route. The weather conditions were perfect for cycling, with an overcast sky, temperatures in the 70s, and an occasional light mist.
“While the route was certainly challenging in terms of steep gradients, I remained motivated by reminding myself that I am doing this for those who cannot,” said Joanna.
Additionally, two other riders completed remote, solo rides: a 55-mile, 1900 ft. elevation route in the Oro Valley area near Tucson, AZ, and a 53-mile scenic trail along the Monongahela River in West Virginia.
“I couldn’t be more proud to represent Leidos QTC Health Services and Leidos,” Joanna said.
